This morning I taught a Professional Learning Community session on Publish Your Passion: A Guide to Self-Publishing for Educators. It was so rewarding to connect with educators and anticipate how they might grow as individuals by taking the risk to publish!
As I was preparing my slide show in Canva, I included information I have used to publish my own writing, along with resources I use each semester in Creative Writing 1 and 2 classes.
My own fears or inhibitions about presenting to peers faded when I thought about the joy I feel in helping people write! Also, a good friend encouraged me to be confident in my strengths, and I definitely felt that today.
Here’s the workshop description:
In this fast-paced session, learn how to take your creative or educational writing, from novels and poetry to original curriculum, and turn it into a published work. Whether you’re dreaming of publishing literary pieces or classroom resources, you’ll get practical tools and guidance on choosing platforms, designing covers, building an author presence, and connecting with mentors. Discover how to establish a readership, begin earning royalties, and empower your voice beyond the classroom. Perfect for any teacher ready to become a published author: no prior experience needed!
If you are reading this and realize you want to publish your writing, reach out and I’ll support you!
