My bestie treated me to a marvelous three hour dinner and delightful gifts which she knows makes my heart soar and just continues to support my love for writing! In my 32 years of knowing her, the woven theme of being vulnerable, seen, and beloved continues.
We are not the same as we were at age 15 or 16, but it’s so refreshing to reach for, cherish, and encourage someone who has heartened me in so many ways: as a mama, wife, teacher, and flawed human, both of us living with joy and passion and grief and hope in the same moment, carrying the emotions of our loved ones, seeking to be the light and delight our world needs.
She has this clear wisdom and profound vision which is remarkable, and sometimes I need to filter my unspoken struggles through her perspective to better understand my own path.
I always return home refreshed and known, and more inspired to confidently be who I was created.
I am so grateful for this sister friend who has traversed the distance with me, and as a fellow kindred spirit, asks me to — continue to wander along together, with increased growth mindset, and with a deeper passion for our families and our world.
